Resumo: The modeling of the distribution network of the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) using the OpenDDS software, in conjunction with the optimal allocation of capacitor banks, cons- titutes an innovative and relevant approach in the field of electrical engineering. This appro- ach aims to enhance energy efficiency, the quality of power supply, and the reliability of the UFLA distribution system. The modeling of the distribution network involves the mathematical and computational representation of electrical system components and characteristics, such as cables, transformers, generators, and loads. The use of OpenDDS, an open-source software designed for real-time distribution systems, enables the modeling and simulation of the beha- vior of the UFLA electrical system. Additionally, the allocation of capacitor banks for reactive power correction emerges as a crucial strategy to optimize power factor and mitigate energy losses. Capacitor banks, as devices capable of storing and supplying reactive power, correct the imbalance between active and reactive energy in the electrical system. By integrating the modeling of the UFLA distribution network with the use of OpenDDS software and the alloca- tion of capacitor banks, it becomes possible to conduct analyses on the behavior of this specific distribution system. This study presents a comprehensive modeling of the distribution system, including the stage of optimal allocation of capacitor banks, and performs a sensitivity analysis to determine Loss Sensitivity Factors (LSFs), aiming to identify the most suitable locations for reactive power compensation. Time series are employed to outline the daily scenario during academic and holiday periods. In the context of optimized management, four proposals are presented to optimize the power factor and minimize active losses in the system. Iterations will determine the sizing of capacitor banks and the necessary adjustment to the power factor of the photovoltaic generation system.
