A estrutura administrativa das unidades produtoras de borracha natural (seringais de cultivo) e a eficiência da produção: um estudo no Estado da Bahia

Abstract

This study aimed to identify and to analyse the relationship between administrative structure and the production efficiency of farm units of natural rubber placed at Ituberá and Camamú counties, both in the south litoral of the state of Bahia, Brazi1 . The sample was constituded by all farm units of natural rubber (29 farms) in effective production activity during the year of 1980. Brazil, is a great importer of natural rubber from the Southwest Ásia and recently have made substantial investment in this agricultural sector, aims to reach self-sufficiency up to this century's end. The main reason to study rubber tree, arised from the need to get better information about the administrative organization of the farms since they will be responsable for the production and commercialization in future years. To determinate the farm units administractive structures the following no-dependents variables was chosen: 1. Descentralization 2. Formalization 3. Standardization 4. Specialization by task 5. Specialization by people 6. Concordane e The dependent variable production efficiency was the rate between dry rubber production and the per hectare harvested área. A table statistical analysis and two nonwer e used . parametries test It was verified that the farmers are using a small size of their land to grow natural rubber tree. Farms characterized either as a fi rm or as a Corporation showed more production efficiency than the non-corporation farms, the former contributing with about 93% of the total production. The variable concordance showed little association with the other non-dependent variable and no significative association with the dependent variable. Administrative structure of the researched farms showed association with the production efficiency. It was found that the majority of farms showed complex administrative structure, positively to production efficiency, ratifying the general hypothesis of this research.
