Abstract: | Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is defined as the increase of pressure in the pulmonary vasculature. Its etiology may be primary, however, is more often to occur secondary to other diseases such as myxomatous mitral valve disease. PH has variable clinical signs and its diagnosis in veterinary medicine is based on Doppler echocardiography. Treatment of PH discloses a challenge for the small animal’s clinician, since there is no consensus about which drugs and doses are more effective to therapy of this disease. Thus, this paper reviews the various aspects of PH as the etiology, diagnosis and treatment, exploring new perspectives presented in literature. |
