Abstract: | The present paper problematizes how the use of digital display screens in the context of contemporary capitalism has reproduced an expanded form of what Paulo Freire (1978) called Banking Education, in order to do this, it mentions Freirean concepts, such as awareness, autonomy, dialogicity, and Ser Mais, discussing them in dialogue with the thinking of Adorno, Horkheimer and C. Türcke, authors of the so-called TICs, especially in conjunction with the concepts of Cultural Industry, Semi-forming, La Società Eccitata that offer epistemological support for digital display screens to be approached as Banking Education amplifiers beyond the school space. This study points out that the massive use of digital display screens, in the context of contemporary capitalism, has led individuals to move away from dialogical relations, which according to Freire promotes Ser Mais, the discovery of their own potential and singularities. Instead, subjectivities have been reaffirmed in isolation, promoting the Sensação de Ser Mais (SSM) of self-sufficiency, making it impossible to be aware of oneself as oppressed and the existence of oppressive mechanisms, which produces changes in subjectivity and hinders the process of raising awareness of themselves and of the processes of oppression for the practice of a Liberating Education. |
