Abstract: | Organic coffee (Coffea arabica) production in Brazil has increased in recent years, driven by market demand for sustainable production. Organic cultivation contributes to the health of producers and consumers, does not contaminate the environment and has the potential to generate income for family farmers. Technical assistance and rural extension are factors that contribute to the adoption of new sustainable production practices, and EMATER-MG is one of the main players in this sector in Minas Gerais, which is the largest coffee producer in Brazil. EMATER-MG's technical publications address various topics and contribute to the dissemination of reference techniques for producers and extension workers, being available both physically and online. The purpose of this work was to prepare a technical publication on the organic management of Arabica coffee, applicable to producers and technicians, with practical quality information on this topic, boosting organic and agroecological production with a focus mainly on family farming. For this, a qualitative bibliographic research was carried out with searches in databases, regulations and technical publications. This information was selected, synthesized and used to prepare a proposal for a manual similar to the Café Manual Series (published by EMATER-MG), in which the following topics were addressed: implementation of the organic coffee production system, legislation, certification, construction of soil fertility, seeds and seedlings, management of insects and microorganisms, management of spontaneous plants, diversification. |
