Abstract: Food security, food availability and agriculture in Brazil are closely linked. In a country that left the hunger map in 2014, consider these variables are of extreme importance for the elaboration of public policies and promotion to the food industry. The objective of this survey is to analyze the evolution of nutritional availability and food safety from the year 2000 to 2014. For this purpose, a descriptive research was used with analysis of data from secondary sources of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the National Survey by Household Sample conducted by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The results indicated that nutritional insuffi-ciency decreased in the analyzed period and the food supply exceeded the average daily requirement of Brazilians. Even so, there was an average insufficiency of fourteen kilocalories per person per day. Food security also increased from 2004 to 2013. With all of this, the Brazilian population started to have better nutritional / food conditions. It should be noted that there is still a degree of uncertainty and uncertainty regarding the future regarding the adequacy of factors that favor the good nutritional development of Brazilian individuals.
