Abstract: Garlic is a species that has great economic importance in Brazil and in the world, even with national production, we still import large amounts of garlic to supply the country's demand. In this sense, anatomical and physiological studies of garlic leaves can be related to the better adaptability of different genotypes to environmental conditions, enabling improvements in the agronomic performance of this species. The objective of the present study was to describe the leaf anatomy and physiology of different garlic genotypes. The experiment was carried out using eight garlic genotypes from EMBRAPA/CHPH, they were Chines Folha Fina, Chonan LV, Gigante Roxo Escuro, Crespo, Amarante B, Ito LV, Caçador 15 and BRS hozan, cultivated in a greenhouse. with an average temperature of 19.9°C, gas exchange analyzes were later carried out with the aid of an infrared gas analyzer (IRGA) and anatomical quantitative analyzes where the leaf blade of the genotypes was evaluated. Among all the genotypes analyzed, the results show that even cultivated under the same culture conditions, the genotypes showed differences between them both for anatomy and for gas exchange, we can see that the genotypes that presented high photosynthetic rates also presented significant increases in their tissues. photosynthetic, these results may indicate genotypes more adapted to different environmental conditions.
