Abstract: | The stem bleeding of coconut caused by the fungus Thielaviopsis paradoxa, is currently the most aggressive disease in Sergipe. Due to inexistence of epidemiological studies about the disease and in order to find the ideal temperature for the development of the pathogen, we studied the effect of temperature on mycelial growth, production and germination of T. paradoxa isolated Neopolis, SE. All traits showed a quadratic and the values of temperature optima for the characteristics were obtained by the derivative of the regression equation. The optimum temperature for mycelial growth was 28.28 °C for spore production was 28.99 °C and spore germination was 28.05 °C. Therefore, the temperature that favors the development of the fungus is the same as occurs in much of the year in the state of Sergipe. |
