Abstract: | The public water supply is one of the main concerns of the population and of the State, requiring large investments in infrastructure, which must be well elaborated with the presence of the most diverse equipment and materials, for the catchment, treatment and distribution of water for the population, with ideal quality and quantity. Thus, the paper aims to determine the quality of the public water distribution in the city of Iguatama, MG, Brazil, explored from underground wells. Water samples were collected in three reservoirs and two residential taps, from January to July 2017. Among the physicochemical analyzes, free residual chlorine, apparent color, pH and turbidity were determined, while for microbiological parameters, the total number of Coliforms, Escherichia coli and heterotrophic bacteria. The classification of water potability was based on the quality parameters imposed by Resolution number 2910/2011 of the Ministry of Health. All evaluations of free residual chlorine remained between 0.2 m /l and 1.2 mg/l, whereas in all analyzes there were no total coliforms, Escherichia coli and heterotrophic bacteria. From the understanding of the results obtained, could be concluded that the quality of the water sampled was as required by legislation. |
