Abstract: | Rotary dryers are one of the great challenges of modeling of dryers, especially with regard to the loading and movement of particulate matter. The intimate contact between the fluid and solid is essential in order to obtain a product that meets specifications of moisture taken by regulatory agencies, and facilitate transport and storage. The drying operation has high costs like the use of labor, the drying time and, especially, the power consumption. In this context, the study of fluid dynamics of flow of particles is important, as this paper aims to analyze the influence of rotational speed, the speed of drying gas, the flow of solids and the angle of the barrel over the residence time and loading the dryer rotating solid concurrent, and compare its performance operated in countercurrent configuration. In experimental studies, it was also possible to perform the simulation via CFD, in order to assess the dynamics of particles inside the dryer. |
