Abstract: This essay aims to comprehend, by using the perspective of Critical Discourse Analysis, how managerial ideology occurs in two of the “best organizations to work” (private and public), according to rankings released in 2013. We understand the managerialist ideology as naturalizer of people management practices, since it facilitates the power exercise. The managerialist ideology contributes to the construction of a managerial universe that replaces the dignity by the usefulness and the collective solidarity by the celebration of individual merit. In this complex social setting, human relations are manipulated and transformed into commercial relationships. Citizens are approached as clients and public and private organizations, as simple providers of goods and services.
