Abstract: | Agricultural activities generate wastes and low value materials. As agricultural waste is basically biomass, they are, in general, rich in lignocellulosic compounds, and a proper use of these materials can be a major step towards better utilization of agricultural residues or coproducts. Hydrothermal carbonization is a technology used for the purpose of carrying out chemical transformations of the lignocellulosic compounds and providing materials with carbonaceous characteristics, the hydrochars, which give it a wide range of applications. These materials can be used as soil improvement, solid biofuels, adsorbents, precursors for composites and catalysts. In this sense, this work had the objective of preparing hydrochars from coffee residues black, immature, and brown (PVA) providing an understanding of the hydrothermal conditions such as temperature and pressure in the synthesis of hydrochars, and thus to propose a more adequate solution to the use of defective coffee beans. This work was divided into two chapters. The general introduction and theoretical framework are presented in Part 1. In the second part were presented results in the scientific paper form. The paper provides an understanding of the relationship of the hydrothermal carbonization temperature with the carbonaceous properties of the hydrochar obtained from the PVA defect, with potential applications as fuel and soil conditioning. |
