Abstract: | This article assumes that the subject of imitation is essential to understand not just the work of some political thinkers, like Oliveira Vianna and Guerreiro Ramos, here chosen for analysis, but the own formation of the “Brazilian political thought”, while object and also as a field of scientific studies. We defend the idea that the strong presence of disjunctive between imitation and authenticity in national intelligence is a result of colonial history and the peripheral condition of the country, which is not overcome with independence in 1822. This disjunctive, used as argumentative strategy by Vianna and Ramos, is associated with the nationalist discourse adopted by both, although with quite different political connotations. Unable to evaluate the question of imitation of more systematic way, the work concludes by suggesting some prospects for research in the field of study of Brazilian political thought they deem more centrally the idea of periphery in the formation of a national political theory. |
