Aposentadorias rurais e o desenvolvimento municipal: o caso de Medina, nordeste mineiro

Abstract

The present study about the multiplicative effects of the rural retirements, stands up a very important question nowadays, considering that the old people number is increasing in an accelerated rhythm and the Social Welfare needs urgent reforms. The rural pensioner, considered as the major responsibles for the social walfare déficit, are the main concerned by this benefit, of which they make an eficient management, propitiating other new occupations. This case study was realized in the Media Jequitinhonha (Minas Gerais state), exactly in the city of Medina, with 22.000 inhabitants. For the data collection it was applied half-structuralized questionnaires containing opened and closed questions with 74 respondents, coumposed by a proportional stratificated sampling, considerating: sex, residence área, land owner or not. The main objective is to trace the regional rural pensioner profile and to identificate its participation and involvement in the domestic economy and its effects on the local development. The statistical and qualitative analysis of the collected data of the representative sampling allows to identify the rural retired as an important actor of the development scenery, because the effects of his benefit began to cause transformations, in his own life, in his family, sindicate, city, state and so on, and is increasing in more and more his significant proportions. Therefore,we can conclude through this work that the rural retired benefits of Medina increase his self-reliance, because this benefit is the main rent saurce and so offering security and decreasing the poverty. The benefits are a social and economic development factor; they providerent, jobs and a rich social capital.
