Abstract: | Microrganisms are present throughout the environments of the Earth and perform several functions benefiting the ecosystem and the human being. However, they are brought to light in schools mostly for their ability to cause pathologies in humans. In the late nineties, the Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (PCN), which consist of guidelines elaborated by Education Ministry aiming to guide the basic education in the country were released. One of the orientations of the guide is to include the cross-cutting themes in Elementary Schools, including the theme environment. This study aimed to introduce a teaching strategy involving conceptual questions pervaded by cross-cutting themes proposed by PCN. The strategy is a report of a lecture presented at the discipline Science Methodology, which is one of the Biological Sciences disciplines (Bachelor in Education) at Universidade Federal de Lavras. The lecture was elaborated using experimentation elements and hypotheses construction as well as the student’s daily life to understand the fermentative process, showing the gas release and the role that some organisms play just as in the process to produce bread. The theoretical basis of the activity was to work with the conception of microorganism and the presence ofthese in everyday life. After the presentation ofthe project, performed the classes and analysis of the speeches of the participants and students is apparent that the use of the experiment is feasible provided that try to portray something that happens in the daily lives of the students and that these can interact with the whole process. |
