Abstract: | The study sought to understand the commitment of employees, military and civilians in a military organization teaching Brazilian Army, awarded the National Award for Public Management. Besides, (a) identify the dominant dimension of commitment in the organization, (b) measure the commitment of employees in four dimensions (affiliative, normative, affective and instrumental), (c) verify that there are significant differences between groups of commitment of military and civil servants of the organization, and (d) establish relations between the dominant type of commitment and profile of employees.The paper presents a conceptual overview of the topic, considering the four dimensions of commitment: affective, affiliative, instrumental and normative. The research isexploratory in nature. As a tool for collecting data, we used a structured questionnaireand the analysis was descriptive and variance (ANOVA). The results point to the dominance of normative commitment than the other. In the study, no significant differences were identified in educational level, age and sex. However, when considering the service time difference was found in the levels of normative commitment, presenting themselves as more committed and those with less seniority. For the four types of commitment was found higher scores for the military in relation to civilians. |
