metadata.revistascielo.dc.description.abstract: | The objective of this work was to study the water absorption through time by specimens of Eucalyptus sp., treated with waterproofing products. The study was done in 33 cubics (3 x 3 x 3cm) specimens obtained in the axial, radial and tangential directions. Three replications were taken from 11 treatments: control (T, no sealer); nitrocellulose sealer 1, 2 and 3 layers (S1, S2, S3); waterproofing for cementitious board Adespec 1, 2 and 3 layers (I1, I2, I3); primer for cementitious board Adespec 1, 2 and 3 layers (F1, F2, F3) and wax (C). Water absorption was evaluated by specimens mass changing through gravimetric method at the times 45 min, 24 h, 168 h and 241 h: 45 min of water immersion. The statistical analysis, by completely random factorial 11x4, showed significant differences among treatments of waterproofing and among immersion time allowing to conclude that the treatment F3 was the most efficient. Treatments F2, S2, S3, I2 and I3 were also considered suitable for this application, but were significantly less efficient. Treatments S1, I1, F1, C and T were not different from each other and were not sufficient to prevent the absorption of large amounts of water by the wood. The treatment x time interaction was significant indicating that the treatments had different responses over time. The effects of the treatments were the same for short immersion time, but the differences among them increased along the time. |
