Abstract: It brought a review of studies "state of the art" which analyzed the environmental education (EE) in postgraduate courses in Brazil. It presents a summary highlighting the key issues identified in order to stimulate a discussion about the consolidation of EE in the academy. The papers presented are the result of literature on the Internet and bibliographic references to journal articles and events and dissertations and theses. The studies "state of the art” covered the 1981-2005 academic productions of identifying the consolidation of research and irradiation in EA postgraduates in recent decades. They were mainly exploratory providing know “what is produced”, “which produces” and “what issues”, having a descriptive and preliminary, without further refinements or inferences. Such studies were conducted from the analysis of abstracts of theses and dissertations, therefore, are considered in the initial stage, being necessary to perform further analysis of the work in its entirety.
