Abstract: This papers aims to show the potential of the teaching resource photography on the teaching of science in the theme Biomes and Biodiversity, with an emphasis in botany. Botany is often shown to students as a difficult content to understand, and thus is necessary that the teacher develops pedagogical practices to motivate them, making the learning process pleasurable and facilitating the construction of knowledge. It is also important that the teacher works with the biological content while relating it to social issues, so that the student sees the relationship between men and nature, learning to appreciate the local cultures of each region. An experimental classroom was proposed on the discipline of Teaching Methodology in Botany at the Universidade Federal de Lavras - Minas Gerais. It could be noticed from the practical application the efficiency of the resource used for through It was possible to carry out the construction of knowledge in a playful and not expositive way, decreasing the distance between the students and the studied regions, since the method approaches the reality of each biome, and awakened in students the awareness of preserving natural resources and the enhancement of cultural aspects.
