Fatores que influenciam o preço de frutas cítricas no estado de Minas Gerais

Abstract

This dissertation aims to estimate end to analyse the price functions and elasticities of orange, tangerixie and leraon at gross market leveis in the citry of Belo Horizonte, in a quartely basis. The research has been undertaken from 1974 to 1984, based on time series data organized by Central de Abastecimento de Minas Gerais (Central Agriculture Gross Market of Minas Gerais) located in Contagem, Minas Gerais State. With -respect to market variables - prices of other frutis - they resulted significant but indetermined as to trends and frequencies. As to the variable quantities of citrus it was more conclusive, and followed economic theory, leaving some doubs just about definite relationships. For cost variables, sucn as fertilizers and defensives prices, raining and frost frequencies, citrus diseases the model has shown consistency most of the times, as expected. Raining frequency increased price6 of citrus, probably due to the difficulties in harvesting and distribution. The study has shown theoretically consistent results, but not definite as to the establishment of direct relationships among ali variables due to market diversification and different delivery schedules and quantities of species and varieties at the gross market level.
