Abstract: | The consumption of mushrooms has been recorded since ancient times and continues to be a practice carried out around the world. The mushroom species of the genus Pleurotus are in second place in the ranking of the most consumed mushrooms globally, due to their easy cultivation and versatility in the use of lignocellulosic residues for their growth. This work was divided into 3 chapters, being the general introduction (chap.1), the cultivation of Pleurotus ostreatus mushrooms in bean straw (chap.2) and the use of coffee husks for cultivating mushrooms (chap.3). As a control, substrate formulations known to present excellent production yields were used. The results obtained demonstrated that, for axenic substrates, up to 50% of raw coffee husk can be used. On the other hand, for composted substrates, the best results were obtained with a maximum of 20% coffee husks. Regarding parchment, it was observed that this by-product can be used pure, with excellent mushroom production. However, pure parchment has low compaction, causing the substrate to disintegrate quickly after the first production flush. |
