Abstract: | This research aimed to evaluate the quality of particleboard made from wood Cecropia pachystachya comparing their physical and mechanical properties with panels made from pine wood oocarpa. The wood of both species were collected on the campus of the Federal University of Lavras - UFLA, located in the municipality of Lavras in the southern region of Minas Gerais. For the production of panels 8% ureaformaldehyde adhesive was used. The pressing pressure of the panels was used of 3.92 MPa and temperature of 180 ° C for a period of 8 minutes. Results of evaluation of physical and mechanical properties of the panels indicated that the wood of Cecropia pachystachya presents technical feasibility to be used as raw material for particleboard manufacturing. The parameters for quality assessment panels Cecropia pachystachya those produced Pinus oocarpa (wood widely used for production of panels) were compared, as these can be observed that the two species have similar characteristics, with the exception of MOE, where the panels pine had higher amounts, other mechanical properties were above the minimums set by the standard CS 236-66, but the wood of Cecropia pachystachya showed potential to be used in manufacturing clusters. |
