Aspectos reprodutivos de duas espécies de ciclídeos na Reserva de Desenvolvimento Sustentável Amanã, Amazonas, Brasil

Abstract

The reproductive aspects of Acarichthys heckelli (Müller & Troschel, 1849) and Mesonauta insignis (Heckel, 1840) from streams in the Reserve of Sustainable Development Amanã, Amazonas state, were bimonthly investigated in the period of February 2006 to February 2007. Measures of standard length, body and gonads weight, and macroscopic assessment of gonadal maturation were performed. The population structure showed standard length amplitude of 1 to 8.8 cm in A. heckelli and of 0.9 to 12.4 cm in M. insignis, being the type of growth found negative alometric and isometric respectively. In A. heckelli the average size of first sexual maturation was 4.85 cm and the period of spawning indicated by the gonadossomatic relation and the gonads index was from August to December. In M. insignis such size was approximately 6.39 cm and the reproductive period from October to February. The average fecundity was 1341 and 609 in A. heckelli and M. insignis, whose lots of different oocytes size suggested total and fraction spawning respectively.
