| Abstract: | The purpose of this paper is to propose and discuss a teaching material as support for and English for Special Purposes to be taught for undergraduate students in the area of Business Administration. This material has been tested with students at a Federal University in Brazil. It has two distinguishing aspects in comparison with other ESP regular material: (a) it emphasizes student development in critical awareness and (b) it draws from the theoretical language perspective and tools offered by Systemic-Functional Linguistics. It is argued that it rationale may be applicable to other areas. |
