Abstract: | The objective of this work was to study in field, the behavior of five cultivars of garlic from the tissue culture and establish a maximum time of conventional multiplication of each cultivar. The work was conducted in the experimental area Olericultura Sector of the Federal University of Lavras using the following cultivars: Amarante, Gigante Roxo, Gravatá, Gigante de Lavínia and Gigante Roxão. Each of these cultivars have two origins: plant tissue culture and conventional propagation. For each year was adopted a design in randomized blocks with ten treatments considered (five cultivars from conventional multiplication and the same cultivars from plant tissue culture) with three replications. An annual index was calculated as the difference in production between the two roots of each cultivar is considered to control the variety of conventional origin. The analysis of variance was applied in the respective indices to adjust to a polynomial regression model. It was concluded that the cultivars Gigante Roxo, Gravatá, Gigante de Lavínia e Gigante Roxão from multiplication by tissue culture, can be multiplied conventionally by at least nine consecutive years. It is suggested that cultivar Amarante be indexed for viruses and is subject to further studies. |
