Abstract: | This article aims to discuss the trajectory of an English teacher when choosing her profession and the meanings she constructs. That trajectory is narrated through an autobiography, which is analyzed based on concepts of identity and human development. Through this paper, excerpts from the teacher’s narrative are also analyzed based on Systemic Functional Linguistics, with instruments provided by the Appraisal, in order to support the interpretations. As a result, both narrative and linguistic analysis of the narrative indicate the plurality in the formation of teacher identity, therefore, recognizing the existence of influential elements, which do not define a complete and finished subject. |
