Abstract: The aim of this study was to make an investigation about the small yield concerning its durability on the productive process facing the producers affirmative: "I am poorer and poorer and I will stay without anything in the end". This research was carried out in the municipalidy of Lavras-Minas Gerais in the year of 1991, having been chosen as goal population the marketers who in the occasion were forty-one. Tuenty-four producers chosen at random were interviewed. Somes questions guided the present study: was the producer (Marketer) really poorer as he told ?Did he know and perceive himself poorer ?Why did he continued being amarketer facing the process of poverty in which he found himself ? One discussed aqualitative research where one used the content analysis to catch in the speaking and practcing of the small producer the sense of his questions and his questions about the guiding doubts taken over. The theoretical image to base the questions concerning poverty one settled on the Economical yield through the concepts of manner of Capitalismyield and Penetration in the field, enphasis to the small yield. In order to found the analysis related to the marketer on the yielding process, one based on the cultural yield, utilizing the concepts of class ideology and knowledge. Through the social-economical characterization of the producers having as parameters the área and property of the land, activity, income and labor power, one concluded that the marketers really meet themseleves in aprocess of lack of funds, therefore, poorer. They own small áreas of land with activity turned to greenery, fruit and poultry-farm sector with a middle monthly income lower than two living wages, even with the work of more than one person economically active by family. Even living in apoverty process the marketer stays on this condition due to ideological, cultural and economical values which are inculcated on him in order to assure his presence on the field, attending the system interests. Thus, one could cerfify that the only reason for the marketer stay in the field is that he owns the land which gives him his preservation; for being involved with food yield and for him "this is anoblemission" and is associated to theidea of plenty that life inthe contry gives him, which could not be possible for him in town; for working for himself and not be linked to the boss, which gives him a sensation of selfgovernment; for developing ahard work which "redeem and brings social peace"; for believing that in the country the family organization and children's up-bringing process of a more agreeable way; for the feeling of "ourselves" allowing a life more in community; for values of familiar tradition, passed from father to son "here is my place", and yet, he stays there for political strength of settement of man in the country that inculcates on the marketer-producer the idea that his place is right there" and that" the best place for living is right there".
