Avifauna em praças da cidade de Lavras (MG): riqueza, similaridade e influência de variáveis do ambiente urbano

Abstract

For evaluating bird community in the urban area of the municipality of Lavras in southern Minas Gerais, seven squares were selected, from which it was analyzed the species richness, similarity and whether the species richness is related to four variables from the squares: area, distance from the city center, number of trees and arboreal species richness. The sampling occurred between August 2008 and July 2009 (168 hours of sampling). A total of 96 species of birds (nine orders, 26 families and 80 genera) were registered, 46% were classified as residents in relation to the frequency of occurrence. Similarity analysis revealed a highly uniform bird community in the urban area. Although it was not possible to relate bird species richness with the variables from the squares by simple linear regression analysis, however, the principal component analysis (PCA) showed greater influence of the variable square area. The results highlight the importance of the squares for maintenance of the bird community.
