Resumo: Given the high concern for factors related to sustainability and environmental protection, we have witnessed the growth of efforts aimed at the reuse of waste from different production cycles. The reuse of these residues can often return to the production cycle or be used in the development and improvement of other materials. In this context, the present work aims to produce a cementitious composite using recycled paper currency waste, which will be applied in a cement matrix. This is primarily a mechanism focused on reducing solid waste and mitigating the environmental impacts associated with it. To conduct the study, cement matrix specimens were prepared with and without the addition of paper currency. The prepared materials were characterized through compression, tension, and water absorption tests to obtain an effective analysis of physical and mechanical properties. The confirmation of the feasibility of using paper currency waste in the cement matrix holds significant importance in the current scenario. This is because it is expected to lead to production cost savings for future materials used in constructions. Moreover, it has the potential to provide strategies aimed at reducing the volume of waste and, consequently, mitigating the socio-environmental impacts caused by them.
