Resumo: Cardiovascular diseases are still the leading cause of death worldwide, and their risk factors are already established, whereseveral studies have linked the influence of socioeconomic health indicators. The objective of this study was to review therelationship between cardiovascular diseases and socioeconomic health indicators through a survey of the main data published in the last five years in the national and international literature. We used free access journals in the main databases (Academic Google, Scielo, Pubmed and Lilacs) using the keywords "cardiovascular diseases", "socioeconomic factors", "health indicators", "education", "income" and "Gender" in different combinations.Cardiovascular disease is an important public health problem in developing and developed countries. Historically, mortality rates have declined over the years, and this is due to the influence of several factors. The high distribution of risk factors, as well as gender inequality and economic conditions, reinforce the need for investigations. The control of risk factors is fundamental, enabling behavioral changes associated with lifestyle. The possibilities of intervention involve the dedication of more intensive care to the control of cardiovascular risk factors in individuals with lower level of schooling. And, in addition, prioritize the search for individuals less fortunate financially in areas of high prevalence of cardiovascular disease and education in maintaining healthy lifestyles.
