Resumo: Modern broiler lineages have been selected for rapid growth and improved feed conversion. As a result, nutritional requirements have increased since the embryonic stage of development. However, the amount of nutrients in the egg remains stable, which can limit the expression of genetic performance potential. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate, through meta-analysis, the effect of inoculation with amino acids of fertilized eggs on the hatching and post-hatching characteristics of broilers. The search for scientific articles was carried out in January 2022 in different databases using the keywords (amino acid OR amino acids AND “in ovo”). The meta-analysis was performed using the random effects model, considering the differences between the group inoculated with amino acids and the placebo control. The global analysis showed that the inoculation of amino acids did not influence (p > 0.05) the hatchability, however it increased (p < 0.01) the hatching weight and the weight gain and improved (p < 0.01) the conversion feed. In the subgroup analysis, only alanine inoculation increased (p < 0.01) hatchability. There was an increase (p < 0.05) in hatching weight with arginine, lysine, carnitine, creatine, alanine and methionine, while glycine and isoleucine reduced (p < 0.05) this variable. Post-hatch weight gain was increased with glutamine (p < 0.01), creatine (p < 0.01), methionine (p < 0.01) and lysine (p = 0.05) and feed conversion was improved (p < 0.05) with glutamine, arginine and threonine. All variables were positively influenced (p < 0.05) when the solutions were diluted in deionized water, inoculated into the albumen, between the 7th and 14th days of incubation, using eggs from hens aged between 41 and 60 weeks. In ovo nutrition of amino acids can improve hatch and post hatch parameters of broilers. Alanine and carnitine are best suited to improve hatching characteristics; glutamine to improve post-hatch performance; and arginine, creatine and lysine favoring both. Deionized water should be used as a dilution vehicle and albumen the recommended inoculation site. The solutions must be inoculated between the 7th and 14th days of incubation. Best results are obtained in eggs from hens aged over 40 weeks.
