Resumo: Volleyball is perhaps the sport with the greatest potential for the development of sociability and collective spirit in its players, allowing interaction among people of different age groups. The movements in this sport have to be fast and precise, benefiting the development of motor actions. Through the practice of Volleyball, benefits are found for children and teenagers such as group socialization, obedience to rules, cooperation, discipline, respect, and self-control. Motor control allows children to have concrete experiences, which will serve as a basis for the construction of basic notions for their intellectual development. The goal of this extension project is to enable the development of social, coordinative, psychological, and technical skills of the sport for children and adolescents who practice volleyball living in Lavras / MG. VivaVôlei started in 1999, being idealized by the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV). The project's activities are developed with approximately 50 students from 11 to 16 years old, divided into two groups according to age, two to three times a week in the Department of Physical Education (DEF) of the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA). Nets, balls, cones, trampolines, and all the materials necessary to introduce the sport in a playful way are used. The present project works with the "Mini Volleyball" methodology, a simplified method of initiation, with adequacy of court size, ball weight, net height, and simplified rules to the students' understanding. In the years the project has been in DEF, the project has presented, gradually, an improvement in behavior, in the students' social relations, and in the motor domains. However, they have shown vast interest and happiness in attending a place where there is a healthy relationship between teacher/athletes and athletes among themselves. It was possible to observe that the project participants have shown progress in motor coordination, increased flexibility, and muscle strengthening. It is known that sports have a social "power" with children and teenagers, seeking to help with social insertion, keeping them away from criminality, and originating new opportunities. Due to what has been mentioned, the sport has a fundamental role in the lives of its participants, a fact that has been fulfilled in the Project VivaVôlei -Núcleo Marcelle/UFLA
