Resumo: About 1.1 billion people around the world, suffer from zinc deficiency. Programs aimed at increasing this nutrient in food are extremely important, emphasizing the health of the population. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the response of different species of unconventional leafy vegetables regarding the forms of application and amount of zinc, specifically the relationship with the nutritional quality of leaves and agronomic aspects. The experiment was installed in a completely randomized design (DIC) with four replications, in a 5 x 3 x 2 factorial scheme, being evaluated five leafy species of unconventional vegetables (capuchinha [T. majus], sour [R. acetosa], goldfish [S. byzantina], wood-chick [Lactuca cf canadensis L.] and ora-pro-nobis [P. aculeata]); three doses of zinc (0 kg ha-1, 2 kg ha-1 and 10 kg ha-1); and two forms of application (soil and foliar application). The following were taken: relative chlorophyll index (SPAD), fresh mass, dry mass, number of leaves, Hue angle, Zn content and other nutrients. The species reacted in different ways depending on the factors studied. The dose of 10 kg ha-1 both via foliar and via soil was positively related to most of the evaluated traits. The doses of zinc increased the content of this nutrient in the species studied, especially with foliar application of 10 kg ha-1.
