Resumo: | Due to the influence of age and clone on wood quality of Eucalyptus for bioenergy production, it is important to develop research to improve and select genetic materials for this purpose. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to determine the influence of age and clone on wood quality of Eucalyptus for bioenergy production and perform non-destructive evaluation of trees using Pylodin® equipment, aiming to determine basic and energetic densities. Four Eucalyptus spp specimens at two ages (55 and 67 months) were sampled. The dendrometric characteristics of the trees were assessed. Regarding the wood, basic and energetic densities, contents of elemental, molecular and mineral chemical components, and higher heating value were quantified. Clone 3335 stood out for the dendrometric characteristics evaluated at both ages and among clones. It presented higher basic density value at 67 months. Hydrogen content and energetic density of wood were not influenced by age. It was possible to observe increased total extractives, total lignin and oxygen contents with age, and decreased carbon and ash contents. Regarding charcoal production, the use of clone 3335 at 67 months is recommend due to its dendrometric characteristics and basic density and total lignin values. Significant correlation was noted between Pilodyn® pin penetration and basic and energetic densities, especially for the models adjusted to the trees at 67 months. |
