Resumo: | Contamination of the soil caused by the spillage of fuels and other petroleum products is a serious problem with harmful effects on the environment and public health. One technique that appears as a solution to remedy the problem is phytoremediation, which consists in the use of plant species to remove contaminants from the soil. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of contamination with petroleum products on soil cultivated with different grasses. The experiment was carried out at Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), in a Red Latosol where Vetiver grass (Chrysopogon zizanioide) and Marandu grass (Brachiaria brizantha) were planted. In order to create a soil contamination condition, automobile motor oil was used after use and five treatments were established, with different applied volumes of the residue: control condition (without residue addition), 2, 4, 6 and 8 liters per square meter of soil with 5 replicates for treatment with vetiver and 4 for the marandu. Analyzes of organic carbon and soil oils and greases were performed before and after the dump to evaluate soil changes. It was observed that the contents of oils and greases and soil organic carbon were 0.003 g.g-1 of soil and 1.90% respectively. After one week, the samples that obtained the highest value of organic carbon (2.63%), were the Marandu grass that received the dosage of 6 L.m- ². Vetiver grass seedlings receiving 6 L.m- ² presented the highest oil and grease content (0.0275 g.g-1 ) after seven days of dump. |
