Desafios e limitações para a expansão da coleta seletiva no município de Lavras - MG

Abstract

Since Law No. 12,305 / 2010, which regulates the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS) has been regulated in Brazil, the Municipal Plans for the Integrated Management of Solid Waste have been presented as a challenge to the municipalities. In this context, this research aimed to identify and analyze the limitations of the selective collection expansion in the case of the municipality of Lavras, Minas Gerais. It was a descriptive, qualitative research that was used of the documentary analysis and the application of semi-structured questionnaires to the main actors involved with the solid waste management in the region. As results presented, the activity of selective collection in the municipality is carried out by trucks of ACAMAR and AGAM, for later sale of the waste. It is seen that the demand for selective collection in Lavras, is greater than the financial capacity of the municipality to carry it out fully, among other difficulties it presents besides the lack of resources, the lack of engagement on the part of the city hall and the difficulty of the associations in to increase the number of cooperatives and that there are still independent collectors throughout the city. The research revealed the need to adapt the municipality to the goals set by the PNRS and to face its challenges, making selective collection integral and sufficient, through new financial resources.
