Resumo: The aim of this study was to examine whether visual deprivation interferes on physical ability perception of young people during a dynamic strength test. The study included 14 healthy men that were involved in resistance exercise training. After defining the load, subjects performed two different exercise sessions with intensity equivalent to 50%, 75%, 90% and 100% of 10 maximum repetition test load in Leg Press 45o. In the first session individuals were submitted to visual deprivation, while in the other session participants visualized the load shifted. In both situations relative loads were randomly selected. At the end of each session, subjects answered the "Perceived Physical Ability" subscale from "Physical Self-efficacy Scale". Data were analyzed by the Shapiro-Wilk test and means were compared by the Wilcoxon test (p<0.05). The minimum value of perceived physical ability of blindfolded participants was 30 points, while in non-blindfolded situation was 32 points. The maximum score of this variable was 53 points for blindfolded and 51 points for non-blindfolded condition. Perceived physical ability was higher when volunteers performed exercise without visual deprivation (Z = 1.73, p = 0.04). It was concluded that load visualization during Leg Press 45o exercise promoted better physical ability perception in relation to the situation without load visualization.
