Resumo: | The different nutrient utilization rates by different species within the same genus, generally occur according to the variation in nutritional requirement, and to the ability for uptake, translocation and use of nutrients. The object of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of uptake, translocation and use of macronutrients in different cultivars of Coffea arabica L. Grafted into Apoatã IAC 2258 (Coffea canephora Pierre ex A. Froehner). The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse at the Federal University of Lavras, Brazil, using the method of cultivation in nutrient solution. A 7×3+2 factorial design was used, with seven varieties of C. arabica L. (Palma II, Catucaí 2 SL, Oeiras, Obatã, Acauã, Topázio MG 1190 and Paradise MG H 419-1), three types of seedlings (free standing, self-grafted and grafted on to root stock cv. Apoatã IAC 2258) and two additional ones (self-grafted and Apoatã). Data showed that the root stock used did not influence nutrient absorption except for potassium, which was increased. Nutrient translocation in grafted seedlings was higher than in free standing ones, except for sulfur. Cultivar Topázio MG 1190 presented the lowest rates of use of nutrients, showing a low ability to be used as a crown in grafted seedlings. |
